Heat Exchange Coil Handings |
Coil handing needs to be specified for coils of 2 or more rows in depth only if both of the following need to be met.
Counterflow air to water:-This is important in order to achieve the stated performance from a coil and should be observed even if a particular handing is not required.
Upward water flow:-This is desirable to encourage air bubbles to exit the coil. If not observed then any air trapped in the coil must travel against the water flow in order to leave the coil.
In order to satisfy both of these situations a coil must be ordered either left or right handed. This is described from a point upstream of the coil looking at the air on side of the coil face and specifying water connection on either the left or right hand side.
